Taliban Ranger; Pressure on Panjshir's Abdullahkhel elite has increased

These residents said on Sunday, October 24, that after the October 11 explosion in the Charbazi Khwaja area, officials of a Taliban security unit were replaced, and the new forces have imposed even more restrictions on people's daily lives.

According to a local resident, people are facing anxiety when leaving their homes due to fear of interrogation and mistreatment by Taliban forces. He added that even individuals going out for the morning prayer or to sleep are being searched. According to him, local elders have also complained to Taliban officials about the harassment and beatings of residents, but no results have been achieved so far.

Based on published reports, in the October 11 explosion of a Taliban Ranger vehicle in Charbazi Khwaja, at least one member of this group was killed. Local sources at the time said that the Taliban, following this incident, arrested at least 21 people, including women and children. On June 24 as well, a Taliban military vehicle in the Abdullah Khil Valley was targeted in an attack, after which, according to local sources, more than 30 people were detained.

The Taliban has not yet responded to the recent complaints from Abdullah Khil residents. Meanwhile, Abdullah Khanzani, head of the political office and spokesperson for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, said on October 20 that the Taliban has established around 700 security outposts and deployed nearly 30,000 forces in Panjshir—a figure that has not been independently verified.

A number of residents in the Abdullah Khil Valley of Panjshir Province say that following the explosion of a Taliban military vehicle in the area, movement restrictions have increased, and the forces of this group are subjecting local residents to greater scrutiny and pressure.
