France confirms technical contacts with Taliban to repatriate Afghans accused of security threat

The spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday, October 8, confirmed the start of these discussions during a press conference in response to questions about reports published on this matter.


He emphasized the priority of the security of French citizens, stating that these contacts are being conducted with the aim of ensuring the security of this country. According to the spokesperson of this ministry, France, like a number of other European countries, is holding discussions with the Taliban in this regard that are of a purely technical nature.


The French official described the objective of these negotiations as exploring possible ways to deport individuals who, from the perspective of this country's authorities, pose a security risk.


The spokesperson for the French Foreign Ministry emphasized that this process does not include refugees or women, and its focus is on individuals whom French authorities consider a threat to the country's security.
