An Afghan citizen was executed on murder charges in Iran's Qezel Hesar prison.

The identity of this Afghan citizen has not yet been disclosed. Based on the organization's report, he was involved in the murder of one of his Iranian neighbors named Javad in late Cancer 1403 of the solar calendar (late June 2024), following a dispute over building maintenance costs in the Khorasan Square area of Tehran.

The report states that three Afghan brothers got into a fight with this neighbor, and Javad lost his life due to stab wounds. After the incident, Tehran police detectives arrested the three brothers at the time they were packing their belongings to return to Afghanistan.

The main defendant stated during interrogation that their dispute with the victim began over building maintenance fees. According to him, after Javad kicked their house door and argued with his mother, one of his brothers attacked him with a knife, and he himself also joined the fight.

After the completion of investigations, the case was reviewed in the Seventh Branch of Tehran's Criminal Court, and the defendant was sentenced to qisas upon the request of the victim's family. This ruling, after confirmation by Iran's Supreme Court, was carried out in the morning of Wednesday at Rajai Shahr Prison.

The Human Rights Organization in Iran has announced that the death sentence of an Afghan citizen, who had been sentenced to qisas (retaliation in kind) for the charge of premeditated murder, has been carried out in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. According to this organization, the individual was executed in the early hours of Wednesday, 13 Aqrab (corresponding to November 4, 2024).
