Bloomberg: Trump asked Zelensky to go to Moscow to meet with Putin

This meeting took place on September 22, 2026, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. According to Bloomberg, Trump, who is working to resume peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, has once again raised the idea of a direct meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin in Moscow.


Zelenskyy has not agreed to this proposal. Individuals familiar with the Ukrainian president's positions have said that the re-raising of this issue, despite its repeated rejection in the past, has caused offense and upset for Zelenskyy.


The Kremlin has previously stated multiple times that a direct meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin would only be possible if the President of Ukraine traveled to Moscow for it. After meeting with Trump, Zelenskyy, in response to journalists' questions about the possibility of his trip to Moscow, had said: "With a missile," and then, using a sharp word, expressed his dissatisfaction with this proposal.


Meanwhile, the United States, while working to establish a ceasefire in attacks on energy infrastructure, is seeking to pave the way for direct negotiations between the two sides. Zelenskyy has said that he is ready for any framework of trilateral negotiations involving Trump and Putin; but he considers the cessation of Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy system and critical infrastructure to be his main condition.


The Kremlin continues to insist on holding any meeting in Moscow, and no signs of a change in this position have been reported so far.



Bloomberg has reported that Donald Trump, President of the United States, in his recent meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, suggested that he travel to Moscow to hold talks with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia; a proposal that is said to have upset Zelenskyy.
